Memorial Day - It's not just about Mattress sales and BBQ's
It's a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the fallen Union soldiers of the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Enjoy your extended holiday, and don't forget why we cerebrate. If you see someone in uniform, thank them.
Other things we (the ordinary citizens) can do:
Donate books to our troops --> Operation Paperback or Books for SoldiersOr just drop off a pile of books at your local VA Hospital.
Remember back in elementary school when your teacher forced you to write a student on the other side of the US? Try it with a soldier - US Military Pen-pals
